Andrzej Wajda (born 6 March 1926, died 9 October 2016) was a Polish film and theatre director, screenwriter, and set designer, and one of the most outstanding figures in world cinema. In 2000, he received an Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement. To mark the designation of 2026 as the Year of Wajda, we present a selection of awards donated by the director to the National Ossolinski Institute. They represent only a part of the rich collection by Andrzej Wajda.The exhibition features exceptional statuettes awarded to the Master both for his lifetime achievement and for individual films and selected scenes, including the award for Best Dance for the polonaise scene in the film ‘Pan Tadeusz’.
